Description
Back up power supply for instruments and control relays is an important part of instrumentation & control system in the modern world. HTM BC2410A battery charger is a purposely designed, versatile & compact battery charger that is used to provide continuous 24Vdc power supply to power instruments connected to it and at the same time charging back up batteries for use during AC power failure. The unit is housed in a compact, lightweight metal casing equipped with voltmeter, ammeter, switch with indicator, standard British plug and heavy duty terminals for connection to equipment and batteries.
Features
Integral power line filter
HTM BC2410A automatic battery charger incorporates an integral power line filter which effectively eliminates electrical noise generated by motors, inverters etc or electrical spikes induced during lightning strikes. Hence making it suitable for use in lightning prone area where normally remote instruments are installed.
Controls & indications
- Float, boost or auto charge switch
- LED indicators for boost charge, float charge, low voltage cut-off, battery low, mains failure & charger failure
- Volt-free contact outputs for mains fail, charger fail & battery low
- Low battery voltage cut off protection
- Separate load & battery terminals
High temperature & overload protection
In the event of high temperature or high current output due to short circuit or equipment fault, BC2410A battery charger will automatically shut down to prevent damages. Unit is auto reset by switching off and on the main switch manually.
Redundancy
HTM BC2410A automatic battery chargers can be connected in parallel and powered on at the same time to provide redundancy and added capacity. Simple installation for effective solution.
Over charging protection
The charging voltage of BC2410A is set to avoid over charging of batteries. Charging voltages are set according to type of batteries used.
Specially designed for instrumentations
The 24V 10A current output of BC2410A automatic battery charger is optimum capacity for charging backup batteries of typical instrumentation systems, which normally run on 24Vdc to provide back up of 24 hours to 8 days.
Voltmeter & ammeter
Voltmeter and ammeter are available at the front facial for monitoring of charger output.
Alarm/status outputs
Standard HTM BC2410A automatic battery chargers are equipped with `mains fail’, `charger fail’ and `battery low’ contacts for connection to monitoring system.
Lightweight & compact enclosure
The enclosures of HTM BC2410A automatic battery chargers are fabricated from polyester coated mild steel casing with ventilated louvers and fan. Standard units are equipped with portable handle for easy handling.
High service life
The main components of HTM BC2410A automatic battery charger consist of components from reputable makes which have low MTBF of up to 170,000 hours. High service life can be expected.
Options
Optional front panel mounted LED indicator module with connector available upon request
Application
HTM BC2410A automatic battery chargers are constant voltage chargers which vary the charge current according to the voltage level of batteries connected. Optional `float’ & `boost’ charge device can be provided. The charger voltage of BC2410A is factory set to suit type of battery used as recommended by battery manufacturers. The high performance switching power supply embedded in the charger, together with an integral power line filter, provide a regulated, noise filtered, clean, high quality power output normally demanded by the instrumentation industry. The voltmeter and ammeter on the front facial of the charger enable status of the charger to be monitored closely.
